The whole school community, including the Head Master, were involved in the huge task of testing to enable the School to start getting back to face-to-face teaching.
 Letter from
the Head Master
Dear Parents/Guardians
Another unusual and let us hope unique term draws to an end, despite the school being closed for face-to-face teaching until 8 March this magazine still serves as a record of the breadth and level of the boys’ interests and achievements.
At midday on Tuesday 25 March the school observed a minute’s silence as part of a national day of reflection on the past year. As I stood quietly and reflected on our collective loss, the sacrifices made and our continuing battle to overcome the pandemic, my mind began to search for a silver lining.
Since January It has been far from business as usual, things have been different but boys and staff have found a way to continue, not only teaching and learning but also participation in a broad range of activities beyond the virtual and physical classroom.
This magazine bears testament to the perseverance, adaptability to change, and the creativity of our school community. Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Linguistic Olympiads went ahead remotely. Debating and Young Enterprise continued virtually. House CrossFit Fest, the Middle School production ‘Brainstorm’, Music Podcasts and the Bubble Sessions are all evidence of imaginative new approaches necessitated by the ongoing restrictions.
Serving Our Community, the desire to develop a duty of service to others and have a positive impact on the world is one of Warwick School’s key priorities. This Warwickian contains more examples of pupil led charitable initiatives and this renewed commitment to community and social responsibility is one impact of the pandemic that I sincerely hope long outlives lockdown.
Monday 29 March saw the country take the next tentative steps on the government’s pathway out of lockdown, and the data indicates that there is real cause for optimism that next term may bring the return of sports fixtures, musical and dramatic performances and even educational visits. Whilst there are no guarantees of a smooth linear return to normal, whatever the next few months bring we should all be proud of what has been achieved this term and look forward with confidence that whatever challenges the coming months present, the Warwick School community will find a way to overcome them and continue inspiring every pupil to thrive in the world both now and in the future, and that upcoming Warwickians will continue to provide evidence of the breadth and level of the boys’ interests and achievements.
I wish you all a happy Easter.
Mr J S Barker
