       Oxbridge Success
Pupils from Warwick School are once again celebrating receiving offers from Oxford and Cambridge universities. Congratulations to the following Upper Sixth students who have received offers this year:
Oxford Offers: Will Foster, Pembroke College, Mathematics; Toby Kerr, Open (backed by Jesus College), Engineering.
Cambridge Offers: Rohan Gogna, St Edmund’s College, Land Economy; Alex Harrold (OW), Robinson College, History; William Knights, Christ’s College, Economics.
     Senior Physics Challenge
Thirty-two boys from Warwick School entered the UK's Senior Physics Challenge. The competition looks for quick thinking and fluency in physics and is taken nationally by the most able physicists in their first year of A Levels. This year 5,300 pupils entered the competition from 380 schools, with the top 15% in the country earning a Gold certificate.
Congratulations to those who earned the following certificates: Gold: Euan McGarr, Archie Mynott, James Nash, Jack Pegler, Ben Shipton and Andrew Walker. Silver: Eoin Beevers, Ben Colliver, Thomas Firth, Jon Gulez, Joseph Lawlor, Oscar Lawson, Oliver Watts and Harvey Zhang. Bronze: Shola Ajibade, William Allen, Jasraaj Athwal, Oliver Harrison, Bertie Herd, Ed Jobburn, George Jones, Henrick Ku, James Marsh, Nathan Ng, James Parker, Guy Portlock, Guy Rawson, Sujin Subanthran, Peter Taylor-Watts, Aingaran Thavarasa, Ben Whittaker and Timothy Yuen.
British Physics Olympiad ⏐ Round 1
Congratulations to our Upper Sixth students who were awarded the following certificates in this incredibly tough round of the Senior British Physics Olympiad:
Gold: Rupert Bottomley-Matts and Richard Yates. Silver: Toby Kerr. Bronze level 1: Nick Ko, William Foster and Sid Sanyal. Bronze level 2: Andrew Kong, Morgan Evans and Connor Johnstone.
Despite the disruption COVID has caused over the last year, it is truly wonderful to see such accomplishments by our pupils and the support their teachers have offered. To receive a certificate of any colour in a Physics Olympiad is outstanding. Well done boys.
UKMT Maths Kangaroo/Olympiad Awards
Warwick School takes advantage of all the competitions offered by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, which includes individual challenges and follow-up rounds, like the international Kangaroo, and the prestigious Olympiad as well as team challenges. This year brought additional challenges with lockdown forcing competitons to go online.
Senior Competition
Congratulations to Harvey Zhang and Andrew Walker in the Lower Sixth for receiving certificates in the Kangaroo competition. Congratulations also go to Colin Lin and Jim Yeung who received certificates of distinction in the British Maths Olympiad, with Jim Yeung’s performance being particularly impressive considering he is in Year 8.
Intermediate Competition
Congratulations to the following pupils who qualified for the Intermediate Kangaroo paper: Alok Bilkhu, Jack Chiilington, Edward Freeman, Melman Ho, Daniel Jenks-Berryman, Andy Lau, Christopher Leung, Leo Lyu, Arjan Paneser, George Topping, Louis Wyatt and Tianze Ye.
A special mention to the following boys who qualified for their respective Olympiad rounds: Jim Yeung (Yr 8), Thomas Macro (Yr 10) and Tim Yeung (Yr 11).
