The following work is part of a series that takes a
critical view of social and cultural issues. The work
evolves around Greek culture and mythology, as
depicted on the pediments of the Parthenon.
Comparing the conflicts people had in ancient
Greece and the ones we are facing today, as well
as the problem-solving techniques used in both
periods, she developed a series of art-pieces both
two- and three-dimensional. Contrast is also cre-
ated through the materials used in creating the
pieces, combining photography, which depicts the
scenes of the Parthenon’s pediments, with em-
broidery, which presents the present situation in
Greece.

In order to explain the rationale behind the work
included in the series, she provides some back-
ground to the pediments of the Parthenon, which
is a temple on the Athenian acropolis. The Parthe-
non is a symbol of the Ancient Greece and of an-
cient democracy. It was dedicated to the goddess
Athena whom the people of Athens considered to
be their patron.
