Water Conservation
To reduce the water that we use in our operations, we have adopted a number of water saving initiatives in our facilities operations. Highlights include the following:
• Recycling of run-o water from the stable district cooling system plant for ushing stable toilets and manure pit cleansing at STRC.
• Collaborating with the Drainage Services Department to investigate the potential of reducing our water consumption by leveraging the rain and irrigation water harvested for reuse by the
Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme.
• Development of a Rain Water Harvesting System at SCTC:
Rainwater is collected from a 3,000 m2 catchment area and stored in 31,000 litre plastic tanks underground and 10,000 litre tanks in the basement. The collected rainwater reduces our annual fresh water consumption for ushing purposes.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club – Property Sustainability Report 2015
The SCTC brings together the core operations of the Property Department within a sustainable environment that is conducive to the growth of the Club. Over 3,000 sta members currently occupy the building.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the main green and advanced features in this building include Solar Thermal Hot Water System, Rain Water Harvesting System, Daylight Dimming System, Video Conference System for all meeting rooms, passive solar design, UV ltration system for drinking water, a Green Wall, and a Green Roof. The College on the top oor opens onto a tree- lled courtyard that leads up to a split level roof garden with uninterrupted views of the racecourse. Our double-deck roof garden is one of the largest of its types in Hong Kong and connects our people to the surrounding natural environment.
As recognition of its green building design, the SCTC obtained both the BEAM Plus Gold and the LEED Gold Awards.
