Waste Management
The Property Department supports the Government’s goal to reduce land ll waste and, in preparation for the incoming waste charging scheme, the Club has undertaken a waste audit to identify major waste streams and introduced a Waste Reduction and Management Plan. To implement this plan, Property has outlined a comprehensive Waste Stream Management process.
To further support the Club’s plan, the Property Department will contribute to internal knowledge sharing through our involvement in two waste management workshops. During these workshops, Property will present the results of our waste audit and insights on waste management.
Plastic Metal Glass Food Waste General
While the initial waste collection and separation stage of our Waste Stream Management is in place, the full process will be implemented in the coming years. Property aims to investigate new tools and approaches to identify and trace waste paths from the source to disposal, storage, transportation, and treatment. Through Waste Stream Mapping, we will identify the origins of our waste and determine more strategic and long term approaches to waste management. In the meantime, we will continue to avoid waste through the use of renewable materials, and reduce waste at the source. In collaboration with other departments, we will also engage contractors to recycle paper, plastic, metal and glass waste; and compost and compact stable waste.
