Day 2
Follow the ALL Independent Group Work protocol to allocate a facilitator and timekeeper.
Text Share:
1. Timekeeper: Set a 2-minute timer.
2. Facilitator: You will go r :
a. Pass your free choice reading text around the group.
b. Share a three-sentence summary of what you have read so far.
c. Share a review of the text with reasons to ju ify your review. Use the sentence frames to help you:
“One thing I like about my text is ___________. For example, ______________.”
“One thing I don’t like about my text is ____________. For example, _________.”
Group: As the facilitator shares, consider what else you would like to know about this person’s text. Prepare a que ion about it.
3. Timekeeper: Set a 2-minute timer.
4. Group: When the facilitator has nished sharing, take turns asking him or her que ions.
5. Repeat eps 2–4 with each person in the group.
6. If time remains, choose from the following:
a. Continue to read your free choice reading text.
b. Try out a di erent text.
Day 3
Get into groups of four or ve.
Follow the ALL Independent Group Work protocol to allocate a facilitator and timekeeper.
1. Read your free choice reading text independently for 5 minutes.
2. Record any new vocabulary in your vocabulary log. Record academic vo- cabulary in the front and domain-speci c vocabulary in the back.
