Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
COACHES REPORT 1997
The 1997 season was to be full of expectation following our previous year’s success. Our goal was to
achieve back to back flags at both levels. Our knowledge of the relocation of ground and social
environment was a change which, as a club, required patience and a clear focus on what we set out
to achieve this year.
Many would say the outcome for us was disappointing because of the hollow feeling which is left
once being defeated in a Grand Final. In 2 years a mixture of success and failure may expose the
difference in comparing the two together.
The Parkside Football Club, its strength is it wins football games Finals football is a further step to
commitment. To understand that emotion in football games, especially in Grand Finals, can have
effect on the result. T
his is the strength we must gain from those experiences, being prepared for change in performance,
staying calm and mentally prepared when emotional challenges are obvious. These experiences
certainly develop character and understanding of the game of football regardless the level we may
choose.
The future leaves much to achieve as long as current personnel, administration and players
understand their commitment in the function of the whole department. Each relies on their decision
and tasks to maintain the standards which the Parkside Football Club has set within the Footscray
District Football League.
Special Thanks:
To the players, past and present, your commitment to me in two pressure years leaves me satisfied.
We enjoyed a successful existence within the Parkside Football Club.
To the Match Committee for their commitment and value to the club’s success.
To the clubs' Committee, on my appointment and opportunity to enjoy a somewhat short, but
successful, term with the Parkside Football Club and I wish it many years of success in its endeavors
to remain the strength of the F. D. F. L.
