Surgeon’s Knot
On some objects, like trees, a basketed sling can
slide down the object, which can be abrasive or alter
the way the object is meant to be loaded. In these
instances, a surgeon’s knot is a less destructive way to
attach a sling or cordellette to an object. It adds fric-
tion and stickiness to help keep the sling in place and
loaded in the desired fashion.
