11- Pre- flight check:
This is a procedure in which the airline checks its
reservation record to eliminate duplicate reservation,
incorrect recording or other errors such as overbooking.
- A procedure always done by airline.
- Names are miss spelt in the system, for example; Mohammed
(when it is written without double "M").
Mohammed has 2 reservations, one by correct name and the other
by wrong name.
12- Overbooking:
Is a condition which exists when more seats had been
booked on a flight more than all seats available for sale.
In this case what will we do?
- Alternative reservation. (But the passenger may refuse & in some
cases we don't find the alternative reservation).
- We can switch the passenger to another flight.
13- Firming:
Procedure in which the airline contact passenger holding
definite reservation to insure that they actually intend to
use the space they reserved.
It is usually done in the case of overbooking.
14- Reconfirmation:
A role which requires by passengers to advice the airline
of their attention to use the space they already reserved.
- The same idea for firming. But reconfirmation done by passenger.
15- Standby passenger:
Is a revenue passenger who presents himself at the airport
and who is prepared to accept the seat subject to
availability.
