  THE APPLICATION Process
Student Responsibilities in the College Admission Process
• Register for standardized tests: SAT, ACT and TOEFL, if appropriate.
• Familiarize yourself with Naviance and complete the Student Questionnaire.
• Do a preliminary college search and have a short list of schools by September of your senior year.
• Have at least one final college essay and one supplement finished by October of your senior year.
• Request at least two teacher recommendation letters in person and input them in Naviance.
• Complete applications either on each school’s website or by using the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) or Coalition Application.
• Be sure you fill out all supplemental forms that each college requires.
• Have your counselor proofread everything including your applications, activities resume and essay.
• Give your counselor transcript request forms at least two weeks in advance so they can be processed before the deadline.
• The Gulliver application deadline is always December 1.
• Send your official test scores directly to all colleges. Gulliver does not send scores. Please note that self- reporting on applications is not an official test score.
• Tell your counselor when you hear back from each college. We keep track of all acceptances, wait lists, deferrals and rejections, as well as financial awards.
