I thought I would share with you some information in regards to marriage licenses.

David straight had brought this up in his Utah lecture, and I will do my utmost best
to share what was shared with me.

Once upon a time a very long time ago. When a man and a woma n
United in wedlock. It was done in the presence of God and witnessed by

their loved ones. The record of matrimony was recorded in the family
Bible. It was also tradition to present the newlyweds with their very
own Bible in order for them to begin their own family record. The

original Bible of record was often times passed down from generation to

generation to generation. Not only was the marriage recorded in the
family bible but the family records as well. The birth of children and the

passing of family members.

It wasn't until the early beginning of the 1900s that marriage certicates or

marriage licenses. What I am about to explain is the way in which the state

took over the role of God in marriage.
