                                                             wholesome doctrine,    2  That the elder men be
                                                             watchful, graue, teperate, sounde in the faith, in
                THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE                      loue, and in patience:  3  The elder women like-
                     APOSTLE TO TITUS                        wise, that they be in such behauiour as becom-
                                                             meth holinesse, not false accusers, not subiect to

              1  Paul a seruaunt of God, and an Apostle of   much wine, but teachers of honest things, That
            Iesus Christ, according to the faith of Gods elect,  they may instruct the yong women to be sober
            and the acknowledging of the trueth, which is    minded, that they loue their husbands, that they
            according vnto godlines,   2  Vnto the hope of   loue their children,  5  That they be temperate,
            eternall life, which God that cannot lie, hath   chaste, keeping at home, good and subiect vnto
            promised before the world began:     3  But hath their husbands, that the word of God be not euill
            made his worde manifest in due time through the  spoken of.   6  Exhort yong men likewise, that
            preaching, which is committed vnto me, accord-   they bee sober minded.     7  In all things shewe

            4  To Titus my naturall sonne according to the   corrupt doctrine, with grauitie, integritie, And
            common faith, Grace, mercie and peace from God   with the wholesome woorde, which can not be
            the Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ our   condemned, that hee which withstandeth, may

            Sauiour. For this cause left I thee in Creta, that  be ashamed, hauing nothing concerning you to
            thou shouldest continue to redresse the thinges speake euill of.    9  Let seruants be subiect to
            that remaine, and shouldest ordeine Elders in their masters, and please them in al things, not
            euery citie, as I appointed thee,   6  If any be answering again,   10  Neither pickers, but that
            vnreproueable, the husband of one wife, hauing they shew al good faithfulnesse, that they may
            faithfull children, which are not slandered of riot, adorne the doctrine of God our Sauiour in all

            neither are disobedient. For a Bishop must bee things.    11  For that grace of God, that bringeth
            vnreproueable, as Gods steward, not froward, not saluation vnto all men, hath appeared,    12  And
            angrie, not giuen to wine, no striker, not giuen teacheth vs that we should denie vngodlinesse
            to filthie lucre,  8  But harberous, one that lou- and worldly lusts, and that we should liue soberly

            bee stopped, which subuert whole houses, teach-  and exhort, and conuince with all authoritie. See
            ing things, which they ought not, for filthie lu- that no man despise thee.

            owne prophets said, The Cretians are alwaies                            3
            liars, euill beastes, slowe bellies.  13 This witnesse
            is true: wherefore conuince them sharply, that      1  Pvt them in remembrance that they bee

            euen their mindes and consciences are defiled.   were in times past vnwise, disobedient, deceiued,
