Page 118 - Producing a Video to Communicate a New Model of Coaching to GAA Coaches
P. 118
The video was well broken down into each category of the coaching process
Concise explanations and examples for parts of the video
Use of examples for parts of the model was effective
Maybe some background music could be used in places to break up the
Recommendations continuous talking
Make a little more emphasis of games based activities
Maybe more visual examples with commentary could be added
Maybe goes into too much depth - maybe cut into various sections
More visual images and videos
maybe using music at stages might help
Maybe have someone asking Paudie questions
Possibly, more visual aids
Vary the approach to each segment, e.g.Paudie for some, Paudie as a voice over
to more relevant video
Maybe introduce other speakers for some clips
Maybe have a child, teenager, an inter-county 'star' reliving/retelling his
positive experiences
Not sure if every coach would agree with every aspect of the model
It might be nice to have other coaches speak on the parts too. Paudie is great,
but there are others we have come across on this course who would have
valuable takes on the various parts of the model too
Maybe a clip or two more on each section to break the constant talking
Maybe add in more video clips
Maybe shorten it by 5 minutes
Camera work at the beginning of the video was distracting
I think if Paudie was allowed to move while delivering it would be easier to
follow
Shorten it and clip into various relvant points
8/10 rules? Does this fit in - all the agreed practices and behaviours
Add more game images of 5C's in operation, more coaching sessions
incorporation 5P's or the TPP presentation
Key managers talking about the 5C's and 5P's elements or the culture and
enthusiasm
The video is a bit long with too much information to take in all at once
Possibly no need for GAA background if this is for coaching courses
Constant talking may not engage majority of learners
At end - Shouting over the the video could seem as 'do as I say' mentality
Tell them their great' sounds like praise for the sake of praise
Different people speaking for different sections, gives a new voice and fresh
impoteus for points
Straight line drils being exampled instead of games-based being practiced -
indifference here
Aids Coach
Learning The environment section was effective, as well as the values section
Gave a good outline of behaviours/values etc.
In what is a complex topic, I feel is broken down very well
The clips of lads training with Paudie's voiceover links the key messages very
well
Model broken down and explained in sections
Explanations of elements related to common understanding, which helps make
it clear
I thought the video was excellent, very infomative and helpful in explaining the
model
It doesn't go through each of the elements of the model, but if you are farmiliar
with the model it's excellent
