St. Onoufrios

The oldest Christian cemetery ever
found in Messinia. It is located on the

second km of Methoni-Pylos road, on the

left side of Agios Athanasios.

 After a short hike to the top of the low
hill, in a shallow cave, you will see burial

openings carved on the rocky floor,

hagiographies on the walls, carved in the
soft rock cisterns and arched rooms

inhabited by hermits from the 5th century.
