In Beauport, on 21 November 1677 (Notary Fillion), 33- year-old Antoine Fortier married 18-year-old Marie Magdeleine Cadieu, a daughter of Charles Cadieu dit Courville and Magdeleine Macart (or Maquart) of Beauport. The new couple made their home on Île- d'Orléans, raising a large family. Of the twelve children (ten sons and two daughters) born to this couple, eight sons and one daughter married and had families of their own. Baptism of Marie Magdeleine Cadieu, 1659
