Women’s Month 2021

 empowered sector!   Aimportant to remember that the empowerment of women in business should still be a key focus for South Africa. The inclusion and
         s we get to the end of August 2021, and we reflect on the significance of Women’s Month in the context of our country, it is
     development of women in all sectors is crucial to the economic enrichment of the country and remains a high priority.

     In December 2020, the Wholesale & Retail Sector employed 2.155 million people, which is about 15% of the total employed individuals
     in South Africa. However, only 22,7% of those employed in the sector are females in managerial roles, with only 2,2% being African.
     Statistics show that the number of African females represented in this sector has decreased from 5,1% in 2018/2019 to 2,2% in
     2019/2020. In 2020 the sector reached its lowest number of employed females with 1 392 000 employees.

     Our collective efforts, now more than ever before, should be accelerated to give women equal opportunities and emancipation.

     We celebrate the achievements of all women in the Wholesale and Retail Sector.
