2 ounces of Irish whiskey into a chilled double rocks glass and pop in some of those frozen cubes. It’s two drinks in one: first a chilled whiskey, then as the cubes melt — miraculous! — an iced Irish coffee. Guaranteed to keep you perky during hour two of your telecast.
Remember that just like ice cream disappears when you’re watching a movie, drinks and hors d’oeuvres can evapo- rate while you’re gabbing on screen. May we suggest a tall one over ice? You’ll get less squiffy that way, or at least more slowly. A Cooley Cooler is our long drink for a night on the wagon. In a tall Collins glass, muddle a thick orange slice. Add ice, seltzer and two good dashes of Angostura bitters. That’s it. A cherry garnish wouldn’t hurt, though.
