His wisdom and miraculous powers. But
those who knew Him or His family took
offense at Him. Jesus responded by
saying, “A prophet is not without honor
except in his own town and in his own
home” Matthew 13:57. Even those in His
hometown didn’t appreciate Him.

Have people told lies about you?
The Sanhedrin, the Jewish supreme
court of His day, had nothing against
Jesus that would qualify Him for the
death penalty. So, they found people to
lie about Him. Mark tells us about this:
“The chief priests and the whole
Sanhedrin were looking for evi-
dence against Jesus so that they
could put him to death, but they
did not find any. Many testified
falsely against him, but their
statements did not agree.” Mark
14:55-56
