{r As has been previously discussed in this book genealogical data is inexact and often
wrong. There are many reasons for this. Family stories about relatives passed down often
get mingled and confusing and it is impossible to find out the facts of a situation because

those directly involved have passed on and no records were kept.

Such is the case regarding MARY ZONA CUNNINGHAM being engaged to a man named
BULLOCK but dying before her marriage and then being buried in her wedding dress. This
information is recorded in the FOY family research papers by NADINE DOROTHY ROPYAK.

However, in the same papers, ROPYAK reports a story about ELLA FOY, the ninth (9th) child
of BENJAMIN FRANKLIN FOY, which involves a “boy named BULLOCK”. She reports that
ELLA married a “boy named BULLOCK”. They had one child, a girl, but the child pulled a
pot of scalding coffee off the stove onto herself and subsequently died from her burns. At
the same time ELLA had the measles.

Following the child’s death and her own illness ELLA could not bear to stay in the house
by herself, so she worked the fields with her husband. She died shortly thereafter from the

effects of her measles and being overheated in the fields.
