Our design response is the result of our need as responsible architects to provide a solution that is eco-
logically responsible and the right decision for our planet.
During early design studies, it was decided that some existing infrastructure could be retained and
used to add value in our future architectural response.
The design for the new dwelling harnesses all opportunities to address the sustainable and ecological
issues of relevance today, resulting in a solution that isn’t over scaled, showy or full of gadgets, but in-
stead focuses on the sometimes private, unpretentious and sustainable.
It is an uncomplicated design that embraces the dual opposites of exposure and privacy, as well as
provides a level of warmth and homeliness, clean air and an abundance of natural light. All materials
and building techniques are selected for their honesty, as well as their ability to patina over time, as it is
important a house gets more beautiful as it ages.
