Performance Evaluation Report on Rural Roads Constructed Using CRRI-Bitchem Cold Mix in Different District of Assam during 2008-2009

7.0 Details of Performance Evaluation of Rural Roads under PMGSY and
MPNA

(a) Bitchem Cold Mix technology has been used for pre-mix carpeting under PMGSY and MPNA
Schemes in different district of Assam. This cold mix technology has been started using in pre-mix
carpeting for rural roads in Assam since 2008-2009.

(b) The rural roads details given in the Tables 6(a), 6(b) and 6(c) were constructed during 2008-2009 using
Bitchem Cold mix Technology for pre-mix carpeting under PMGSY and MPNA Schemes. These rural
roads are located in the district of Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Kamrup, Nalbari, Baksa(BTAD),
Bangaigaon, and Morigon district in Assam. These rural roads are located in high rainfall, flood
affected and bordering as well as remote areas of Assam.

(c) The surface and drainage conditions of all the rural roads given in the Tables 6(a), 6(b) and 6(c)
constructed using Bitchem Cold Mix technology for pre-mix carpeting under PMGSY and MPNA
Schemes in different district of Assam are shown in the Photographs Sl. No.
1,3,5,7,9,10,11,12,13,15,17,18,19,21,23,25,26,28,30,32 and 34.

(d) The surface and drainage conditions of some of the rural roads given in the Tables 6(a), 6(b) and 6(c)
constructed using Hot Mix technology for pre-mix carpeting under PMGSY and MPNA Schemes in
different district of Assam during 2008-2009 are shown in the Photographs Sl. No.
2,4,6,8,14,16,20,22,24,27,29,31 to 33.

(e) Visual observations of surface condition of all the selected rural roads sections were carried out to
evaluate the pavement distress performance after completion of 4-years of construction. The
entire length of the rural road pavement sections were inspected and observed the types of distresses
which are in the forms of cracking, patch work, potholes, depression, raveling, bleeding and shoving.

(f) Surface Roughness of the selected rural roads is also observed during the field evaluation.

(g) The side drains and pavement drainage conditions of all the rural roads selected were also observed
during the field evaluation.

(h) Samples of in-situ Bitchem Cold Pre-Mix Surfacing were collected from the two rural roads from
Nalbari to Batbari Road,Doomni Jalahgaon, Baksa (BTAD) and Bhurbandha To Barwabhujia Road, Morigaon
which are shown in the Photograph Sl. No. 25(a) and 26(a).

(i) Observation of movement of traffic on the selected rural road sections during the field performance
evaluation.
