The dignitary cast seated with long robes and
a scholars hat, the right hand clasping the
belt, the face with pronounced eyebrows and

A BRONZE ‘SHOULAO’ GROTTO
17th century
Cast with the central Daoist God of Longevity
seated under a large overhanging rock face,
clad in long robes and holding a peach and
staff, flanked with a small stag and a crane,
the reverse with a cast inscription in low
relief 唐揚惠之造 ‘Made by Tang Yanghui’,
mounted on a later metal plinth. The bronze:
