                                                          * The Bao Xing maker’s mark [far left above] could possibly
                                                          be another branch of Bao Xing that might be unrelated or
                                                          simply a late version of the mark. Further research is being
                                                          made to verify

                                                          Bao Xing silver items tend to be of high quality and worked
                                                          with traditional decorative motifs and conveys a message
                                                          that it probably specialised in small bespoke items for both
                                                          the export and China market, intricate boxes a speciality.

                                                          The  Bao  Xing  style  was  quite  a  definitive  one,  almost
                                                          always  high-relief  repoussé  work  of  highly  intricate  and
                                                          complex  decorative  motifs  based  on  either  traditional
                                                          figural  scenes  or  repeat  motifs  based  with  arabesques.
                                                          Such  works  set  Bao  Xing  very  much  apart  from
                                                          contemporary  silversmiths  of  the  time,  especially  in






            Canton.
