The Bao Xing beaker [left] is made of very thick-
gauge silver and worked in a foliate repeat design
that gives an overall arabesque, even Yogya feel.
This leaves one wondering to which specific
market was this and similar items intended for,
because such a design had to have a user in
mind.
The same can be said of the box below. The
depicted scene could be Indian but more likely
Siamese, yet it is set in a very Chinese landscape.
The decorative style of the box, though, is very
similar to the previously illustrated box - the same
dragon heads supporting the box and the same
swirling dragons chasing the flaming pearl.
