H.P.K. [SILVERSMITH’S FULL NAME UNDOCUMENTED]
Shanghai
circa 1890-1915
A mark of a retail silversmith that is not often seen, but when it is found it is highly likely to be a picture frame.
A late 19th century reticulated
and repoussé picture frame
with a symmetrical decorative
motif of two dragons within
stylised clouds chasing the
single flaming pearl.
The frame rest on a tripod that
almost all 19th century Chinese
silversmiths used.
