H.H. [SILVERSMITH’S FULL NAME UNDOCUMENTED]
            Hong Kong
            circa 1880-1910

This mark is the cause of much confusion since there is an “HH” mark in both Yogya [Indonesian] and Dutch
silver, both of which are frequently wrongly attributed to being Chinese Export Silver

[Below] The Dutch mark of Hendrik Hooijkaas of Schoonhaven that has
been incorrectly described as being a Chinese Export Silver pseudo
                                               hallmark

                                                              Additional marks for Hendrik Hooijkaas

The best rule of thumb to follow is if the ‘HH’ mark is not accompanied by a Chinese artisan mark, then it is
likely it is not Chinese silver.

            carries the HH mark alongside
            the artisan’s mark Zhuo, a
            known Hong Kong artisan
