A simple cigarette case is skilfully
converted into an object that must have
given great pleasure, if not also been a
            conversation piece whenever brought out
            and used in company.

Although the trick of depicting a single
            applied repoussé dragon split between
both sides of a case is not unique in the
Chinese Export Silver repertoire, this is a
particularly skilfully worked piece as is
the quality of the plain case itself.

The case is probably circa 1920-30.
