            The mark “LC&Co” has been assumed to be Lain Chang & Co; the shared chopmark [Lian Hun] indicates this is
            !
            likely to be correct. Lain Chang was a retail silversmith.!
            There  is  a  school  of  thought  among  collectors  that  LC&Co  is  a  mark  used  by  the  upscale  Hong  Kong
            department store Lane Crawford. Having carried out research into this, Lane Crawford has never been known as
            Lane Crawford & Co; it’s correct name was Lane Crawford Company and later Lane Crawford [HK] Ltd.!
