Page 613 - Chinese SIlver By Adrien Von Ferscht
P. 613
This set is circa 1890, the teapot being of
similar form to many such teapots by
almost every Chinese silversmith of the
time, but this Qiu Tian Bao teapot is
embellished in a very individual manner.
The tea pot has been cleverly inspired by
the lotus - the lid takes the form of an
inverted lotus leaf, the top frieze on the
body of the teapot is lotus-influenced, the
saucers are both deep and shaped as a
lotus-shaped.
It still retains its original bespoke wooden
storage box which traditionally were crafted
as miniature showcases.
