It is extremely rare for18th century Chinese filigree silver to carry silver marks of any kind,
            so an educated opinion is the only real way to make trustworthy identification. But the style
            and quality of workmanship together with the fact that filigree silver or silver gilt will almost
            certainly have caused signs of ageing. The casket [above] dates to circa 1750 and was
            made in Canton. Likewise, this late 19th century lady’s travelling box [below] is Chinese
            and has certainly accumulated age and usage marks.
