AND CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMEL MODELS OF
ELEPHANTS
Late Qing/20th century
Each standing with the head variously turned
to left and right, wearing saddle cloths and
elaborate jewelled trappings, the cloths
decorated with panels of bats amongst cloud
scrolls and above foaming waves, flanking
central ruyi lobed panels of lotus sprays
and scrolling foliage, the trappings with
floral rosettes, beaded chains and tasselled
pendants, the bodies incised to simulate the
hide.

AN UNUSUAL CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL
HAND-BELL
Late Qing Dynasty
The trapezoidal hand bell decorated with
elaborate ruyi-head borders and lappets, with
a bud knop handle crowning the top; together
with an unusual famille rose archaistic vase
with ram’s head-handles, the base with an
underglaze blue ‘ri’ mark, wood stand, 20th
century.
