A HONGMU TRESTLE-LEG TABLE

The single-panel top set with everted ends above a plain, beaded
apron which continue to beaded, shaped spandrels. The whole is
raised on trestle legs with openwork panels, carved with mythical
beasts in a rocky landscape amidst scrolling clouds and set into shoe
feet.

cm.) deep

The K’ung Hsiang-Hsi (Kong Xiangxi, 1881- 1967) Collection,
New York, and thence by descent within the family.
