                           A RARE EMBROIDERED ORANGE-GROUND SILK ‘DRAGON’ PANEL
                           WANLI PERIOD (1573-1619)
                           The panel is fnely embroidered with a ferocious front-facing fve-clawed dragon chasing a faming pearl,
                           the scales of the dragon are fnely delineated, all amidst ruyi-form clouds on an orange tabby ground
                           with wefts of varying sizes, and worked in shades of blue, orange, pink, green and ochre.
                           40 x 35æ in. (101.6 x 90.8 cm.)

                           The angled seams at the top of this panel indicate that this may have once been the upper portion
                           of a monumental banner.
