A RARE INLAID ZITAN BOX AND COVER
17TH CENTURY

明十七世紀 百寶嵌紫檀水牛圖方蓋盒 「丙」款

The box is of rectangular shape. The top is inlaid with mother-of-pearl,
malachite, agate and wood depicting two recumbent bufaloes beside lingzhi
and rocks and below a sun hidden by clouds. The base is inset with a mother-
of-pearl square tablet with the character bing.
