Late 19th to early 20th century
The jacket with scattered peony and blossom sprays above foaming
waves, turquoise silk embroidered sleeve bands; a yellow silk apron
skirt embroidered in blue tones and gilt thread with butterflies and
flower sprays; and a green silk damask apron skirt with Buddhist
emblems. The jacket 64cm (25.1/4in) long.

The coat woven with archaic motif and entwined foliage roundels,
turquoise silk lined padded interior; the robe woven with scattered
cherry blossom sprays within black silk border woven with pine,

A PURPLE GAUZE ‘NINE DRAGON’ ROBE, JIFU
19th century
Finely woven in gold thread with nine writhing five-clawed dragons
amongst clouds scrolls, the Eight Buddhist emblems, bajixiang, and
the Eight Daoist emblems, ba anxian, above crashing waves on the
lishui, with black and gold striped sleeve extensions, terminating in
