                                                             Provenance
                                                             A French-Huguenot private collection; a gift from the current owner’s
                                                             grandfather who purchased the vase in Japan during a tour of Asia
                                                             in about 1900. The vase was kept in an English country house in
                                                             Surrey until about 1960 and thereafter in a family manor house in
                                                             Northumberland, where it has remained until very recently.
