           Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
           The octagonal vase pierced with openwork sides alternating with
           panels decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt with scenes of
           children playing games before a screen painted with a landscape,
           a blossoming cherry tree, a dancer onstage, and people enjoying
           cherry blossoms, the surrounding areas painted with geometric
           and floral panels, signed on the underside Ryozan with the Yasuda
           Company mark and the Shimazu family crest
           7 1/8in (18.1cm) high
