A SMALL FOUR-COLOR-OVERLAY CLEAR GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
1760-1830
The bottle is carved through the transparent red, pale-green, blue and
translucent yellow overlay to the cloudy, semi-transparent ground
with the sanduo, on one side with a green branch bearing two red
peaches fanked by a yellow fnger citron and a bat, and on the other
side with two red pomegranates, all above the curling leafy branch
that forms the foot.

AN UNDERGLAZE COPPER-RED-DECORATED BLUE AND WHITE
PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE
1800-1860
The cylindrical bottle is decorated under the glaze in copper red of
crushed-strawberry tone and cobalt blue with a farmer seated astride a
water buffalo in a rocky landscape as he holds a stick on which a bird
is perched. The characters wan yu (‘jade to be treasured’) are written in
underglaze blue on the base.
