A GILT COPPER ALLOY PLAQUE WITH BUDDHAS This splendid plaque depicts a gem-studded aureole surrounded by
CENTRAL TIBET, DENSATIL, 15TH CENTURY repeated figures of Shakyamuni Buddha symmetrically arranged in
Himalayan Art Resources item no.61964 high relief. Its heavy casting, thick gilding, and overall style indicate
12 3/4 x 13 3/4 in. (32.5 x 35 cm) the plaque was produced for Densatil Monastery; two other Densatil
panels with repeated buddhas were sold at Christie’s, Paris, 14
$30,000 - 50,000 December 2016, lot 32 and Bonhams, Hong Kong, 27 November
2013, lot 415.
