Edo period (1615-1868), 17th/18th century
Kanzan and Jittoku, a pair of kakejiku (hanging scrolls), ink, colours,
and gofun (calcified crushed clay) on silk in silk mounts, depicting
Jittoku with his broom and Kanzan with his hands almost concealed
within his sleeves, each with prominent white teeth and fingernails and
wearing eccentric expressions based on earlier Chinese and Japanese
prototypes, unsigned; with a double wood storage box.
Overall: both approx., 194.1cm x 58.2cm (73 3/8in x 22 7/8in);
