Catalogue Note
Exquisitely rendered with a gentle smile and full rounded body, the horse has been further endowed with a certain individuality
through the jade stone from which it has been fashioned. Carvers of the Ming period aimed to capture more than the mere
physical likeness of subjects, so as to convey their true character.
