       for suspension, the heavily calcified stone a reddish-brown color

       Catalogue Note
       Jade bird-form pendants of this type were made during both the Shang and Western Zhou dynasties, with an interesting feature to
       distinguish between the two periods. The carved lines on Shang bird pendants are usually slanted on both edges; the lines on
       Western Zhou pendants, on the other hand, are typically slanted only on one edge, a technique called yimianpo (one slanted edge),
       which is believed to have developed during the late Shang period and became very popular during the Western Zhou dynasty. See
