          A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE ‘PEBBLE’ SNUFF BOTTLE
          18TH-19TH CENTURY
          The bottle is of fattened, irregular rectangular shape, one side is
          softly polished to highlight the white stone, while the reverse is
          highly polished to highlight the pale russet mottling of the skin.

          A SMALL WHITE AND RUSSET JADE FIGURE OF TANZI
          18TH-19TH CENTURY
          The boy, Tanzi, is shown holding a bucket as he stands beneath a
          deer skin draped over his head and back. The white stone has areas
          of added russet color.
          2º in. (5.7 cm.) high

          PROVENANCE
          Lizzadro Collection, Elmhurst, Illinois, acquired prior to 1960.
          Carvings of Tanzi represent flial piety, as the boy concealed himself
          under a deer skin as he mingled with the herd in order to obtain
          doe’s milk for his ailing parent.
