neck, flat lip, splayed oval foot ring, each
main side with a recessed panel, decorated
in a buff slip depicting a hut nestled in a
serene landscape and a cluster of nandina
and other foliage respectively, the remainder
of the body covered with cobalt blue enamel.

A METAL-LINED AND SLIP-DECORATED
YIXING SNUFF BOTTLE
1800-1860
Of upright cylindrical form, the body of
the bottle covered entirely with chocolate-
brown Yixing clay except the waisted neck
and flat lip that expose the metal lining, the
side walls worked with buff slip, carved to
depict a figure fishing at a bank surrounded
by a landscape strewn with vegetation and
trees sheltering a pavilion; the circular foot
enclosing a recessed base covered with
crackled white glaze.
