VASES
By Taizan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/
early 20th century
Each thickly potted, with galleried rim and
waisted, angular shoulder above tapering
sides, enamelled and gilt with a scene of
quails amidst peonies and chrysanthemums
on a bright blue ground, the shoulder and
mouth with a luxuriant gilt brocaded border,
the base signed. Each 62cm (24 3/8in) high

Signed Kinkozan, Meiji Era
The globular shoulder enamelled with two
medallions of respectively a riverscape framed
by hanging wisteria, and two ladies by a
river, all on a blue ground with elaborate gilt
and silver designs of flowers, grapes and
brocaded patterns. 10.2cm (4in) high.
