form of a stylised bird with crested head and
extending tail, the wings tucked neatly at the
sides, incised to simulate the plumage.

The Jian ware bowl covered in a thick lustrous
black glaze densely suffused with russet
streaking, stopping short of the foot to reveal
the brown stoneware body; the Jizhou bowl
covered in a chocolate brown glaze liberally
covered with cream coloured splashes.
