A LACQUERED AND GILT WOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN
17th/18th century
The bodhisattva seated on rockwork in rajlilasana, supported on a
raised knee in vitarka mudra, wearing a voluminous robe decorated
with a continuous wave design, the face with a serene expression,
the hair drawn up in a high chignon and secured by a foliate tiara
enclosing an image of Amitabha Buddha. 53cm (21in.) high.

Ming Dynasty
Standing with arms folded and gazing downwards, wearing long
flowing robes with a foliate apron tied at the waist, some coloured
pigments and gilt decoration remaining, set on a later wooden base.
The figure 34cm (13.3/8in) high.

A PAIR OF GILT LACQUERED WOOD FIGURES OF THE HEHE
ERXIAN
19th century
The jovial twins modelled in mirror image, seated on large wicker
boxes and covers, each holding a bat in one hand and pointing with
the other, wearing aprons with floral motifs, the hair pulled into pig tails
to each side of the head.
