Part of the benefit of starting earlier than most is
the ability to see things others don’t get to see.
Add to that the patience to explore and I am sure
most kayakers going by Vekin Dam don’t know
about the campsite here in the slight rise. Some
paddle over the dam and not stop, some portage
around the dam which by spring is very over
grown, but me? I camped out and stayed the
night.
I even used the fire pit and the drying rack, tent
rack, standing poles.
This is what I ultimately wanted in my journey
and that was to find things others may have
missed and enjoy the moment as mine.
Now I am sure others know this and use it, there
is a road and a house very close by I walked to,
but for me it was a Great American Adventure of
the Mississippi River and camping.
