I started Stand Up Paddling just before the SUP craze caught on after seeing John Sullivan
from Mississippi River Paddlers Facebook Group post a pic of himself paddling in a canoe

Standing Up. About the same time I found “polling” and that seemed to stir some childhood
memory of seeing a raft and polling.

I was inspired by both but as a Trademark style to my kayaking, I determined that when I left
shore or boat dock I would stand up paddle till I was out into the waters. Yeah….. sure it was
hot-dogging in some ways but I also wanted to inspire and stand out from all the other Kayak-

ers. Even if you could not see me or my kayak, you could tell my the silhouette that was me,
because almost no one stands up and Kayak Paddles.
