With Sunrise on the lake assured I returned to the Cabin and Lori was awake and ready
to go. I had Pre-prepped the cargo bags to be easy to move in Costco Bags so they could be
manhandled because I was carrying canned goods and well as normal household stock items.
This was to be about what “any man” can do, so almost everything I had and planned on was
from what we had at the house.
Loading the Truck took about an hour
and with the activity it felt warm but
not hot.
All my planning had been to try to
avoid “heat” in the south, mosquitoes
in the North, and hurricanes in Gulf.
Most of the forecasts were suspicious-
ly generic in long range planning and
Almanac's had been off around the
country for years with Global Climate
changes. In some locations I knew that
meant more storms.
Today though seemed a perfect day to go across Lake Itasca and start down the Mississippi
River.
Driving from “you are here” to “boat landing & rental” it was amusing on May1st to be so ear-
ly in the season it was hard to find people around. In 2016 even with Ice melt being early, Min-
nesota still had a “Fish Opener” and June mindset for Summer Season to start and I was just
too early. Even the Trees without leaves seemed to agree.
